My name is Art Gomez, born in California with Apache blood lines from Arizona... However, I have been a resident of the south for several years starting in Augusta, Georgia and ending in Charleston, South Carolina.
Though I toyed with drawing as a child, by high school that talent was shelved when I became a father (and married) at sixteen. In short, I never realized my art potential until my Army infantry days at eighteen. Before going overseas, in my barracks, I created a caricature poster with color pencils that a high-ranking officer saw, which he purchased for his daughter. Although I offered the art piece for free, the officer handed me $35 and gave me a direct order to take it!
After raising a family, I finally found the time to indulge more actively in my PAINTING and WRITING passion. And although using a paintbrush has come naturally—with no training—I'm still trying to discover my true forte...
My artwork has been on exhibit in numerous venues in Georgia, South Carolina, and California. I sold three paintings at my very first show in Georgia in 2011 the year I learned to use paints! My most recent show on the east coast was at Charleston's City Gallery at Waterfront Park—before the pandemic. You can also find some of my paintings in Lexington, SC at Keg Cowboy Cafe.
On the west coast, a few of my art pieces are on exhibit in northern California: The SPARQ’s building lobby, just south of San Francisco, in the heart of downtown San Jose, 5 E. Reed Street.
Although only a few of the paintings on this website are left for sale, most have been sold—particularly the ones that were created on commission.
